What CartScale collects

CartScale collects email addresses voluntarily submitted through merchant storefront popups, cart value at the time a popup or shipping bar appears, popup type, popup interaction events, page URL, browser language code, and whether the visitor captured or dismissed a popup. Browser session signals may also be used locally to decide when a popup should appear.

CartScale also stores merchant app data, including shop domain, Shopify app session details, plan tier, popup settings, captured lead records, integration settings, and optional Klaviyo connection details supplied by the merchant.

What CartScale does not collect

CartScale does not intentionally collect shopper full names, payment card details, IP addresses for merchant-facing reports, or precise location data.

How CartScale uses data

CartScale provides cart recovery, lead capture, shipping bar, analytics, and popup customization services on behalf of the Shopify merchant that installed the app.

Submitted lead data is stored for the merchant, displayed in the merchant dashboard, included in CSV exports when requested, and sent to the merchant's Klaviyo account only when the merchant enables Klaviyo sync.

Retention and deletion

Lead capture records are retained for the merchant unless deleted through app uninstall cleanup or a deletion request. After confirmed app uninstall, CartScale deletes merchant store data, popup events, language statistics, popup settings, lead records, and Shopify app sessions.

Third parties

CartScale uses trusted service providers to host the app, store and cache data, deliver the storefront script, process Shopify app sessions and billing, send service emails, measure app performance, and operate merchant-requested integrations. If a merchant enables Klaviyo, submitted email data may be sent to that merchant's own Klaviyo account.

GDPR roles

For shopper data collected through a merchant storefront, the merchant is generally the data controller and CartScale acts as a data processor. Merchants are responsible for using CartScale in accordance with their privacy notices and applicable laws.

Security

CartScale limits access to merchant and shopper data to what is needed to provide the service, troubleshoot issues, and maintain the app. Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored with managed infrastructure security controls.
